Bird of Prey

Attritable UAV Interceptor

Engineered for speed, agility, adaptability, and designed to neutralize aerial threats with unmatched precision. Built on a proprietary aerodynamic platform with a modular payload system, BOP redefines what’s possible in rapid-deployment counter-drone operations.

Challenge

The increasing use of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) in both reconnaissance and strike roles has created a growing demand for low-cost, modular, and reliable interception solutions. Operators require systems that combine rapid deployment, operational flexibility, and high reusability, while remaining affordable to operate and maintain.

Our Solution

Web4You has developed the Bird of Prey (BOP), a Class I, Small UAV interceptor that is attritable by design yet battlefield-validated to achieve high mission success rates. Currently advanced stages of field testing, the BOP combines a proprietary aerodynamic airframe with a modular payload bay and electronics suite, allowing rapid reconfiguration for both kinetic and non-kinetic missions.

Aerodynamic Airframe Design: Unique reverse-sweep wing configuration ensures stability at high speeds and control at low speeds, enhancing both interception precision and loitering capability
Camera & Video Signal: Camera with low-light mode that provides high image quality late in the evening, just like during the day. Supports all standard channels and allows configuration of 4 additional channels in the 6010–6080 MHz range with a video scrambler
Communication: Dual-channel board enables in-flight frequency switching (433–490 MHz / 850–950 MHz), with upgrade options for AES-256 encrypted multi-band (2.4 GHz, 5.8 GHz, L-/S-/Ku-bands, satellite) connectivity
Arming Initiation Board: Custom safety system arms payload only after confirmed target acquisition, reducing accidental detonation risk and increasing operational safety
Modular Design: Carries 1–4 kg up to 120 km at 150–165 km/h, with a modular bay and electronics for rapid mission customization.
Safe Arming: Semi-automatic tracking with manual override, featuring safe arming through a software-controlled initiation board.

Key Innovations

Aerodynamic Airframe Design

Custom fixed-wing geometry maximizes lift-to-drag across cruise (150–165 km/h), pursuit (200 km/h), and burst (325 km/h) speeds. Maintains stability in high-G maneuvers and enables pre-mission search or non-explosive recovery gliding, boosting accuracy, efficiency, and survivability beyond standard interceptor designs.

Arming Initiation Board

Custom logic board triggers detonation only via proximity (≤3 m), onboard sensors, operator command, or impact. Ensures safe handling, prevents premature arming, and enables recovery if unused, enhancing mission safety and reliability in high-risk environments.

Modular Payload & Reconfiguration System

Payload bay and electronics support rapid in-field swaps between kinetic, non-kinetic (RF jamming/spoofing), and optical modules (thermal IR, LiDAR). Delivers flexible mission profiles, reduces costs, and extends platform lifecycle.

Autonomy & Intercept Logic

The BOP uses GPS/INS navigation to reach the intercept zone in automatic, semi-automatic, or manual modes. Operators confirm targets via onboard camera, then engage Cursor on Target (CoT) for precision guidance. Detonation can be triggered by proximity sensors, operator command, or direct impact; reducing workload and ensuring fast, reliable interceptions.

Cost-Performance Advantage

The Bird of Prey (BOP) redefines cost-to-performance in UAV interception. While most competing systems cost anywhere from $10,000 to $80,000+, the BOP delivers unmatched speed, range, and payload capacity at a fraction of the price — just $7,000 CAD for a fully equipped platform.

It’s the only UAV in its class capable of 325 km/h burst speed, up to 120 km range, and carrying a 1–3 kg kinetic payload, making it a viable choice for sustained frontline deployment where other systems are too expensive to risk.

Applications

The Bird of Prey’s adaptable design and mission flexibility make it ideal for a wide range of defence, security, and reconnaissance scenarios.

  • Defence & Border Protection – Neutralize unauthorized drones before they reach restricted zones.
  • Critical Infrastructure Security – Protect power plants, airports, and ports from aerial intrusion.
  • Event & VIP Security – Secure skies over stadiums, rallies, and high-profile gatherings.
  • Tactical Reconnaissance – Conduct rapid surveillance in contested areas.
